estonia—
she’s beautiful but she’s broken
staring straight over us
her cheekbones are carved from pity
worn down from this city
craved catharthis
she’s a gypsy (sorta girl)
traveling, transient,
escaping from these demons, who
seek out fathers and shove
their own sons' hearts
down their throats.
so she wants to escape—
so she gets a heard of followers
dust coating their long braided hard
and grit coating their fine gritted nails
that facet the fingertips of their wrinkled hands
that hold their jewels and crystals
swinging by their sides
gold line teeth and ash-ridden feet
knives in goat leather sheaths
only used to defend against the
unjust and the unrighteous
each set of eyes falling mistakenly into
another’s swollen stare,
yet riding perfectly on passion
and desire for a better deed,
to make a better life
a tired smile and a strong handshake
greeting a new friend into this parade
potentially leading to a paradise
if only these
peace warriors are able to
find or make a newfound world.
a better world
a land that is either already great,
or a land that is just as eager to
be free as the people who land upon it.
a world that actually is
inherently
as beautify to the eyes and mind
as the name
E S T O N I A
sounds to the ears and soul.
